Winter Storms

I am going on day 4 out of 5 of wearing Cheirosa 62 and looking for a break. And that break will arrive tomorrow. When I clock out at 7pm, I will be off for the next few days and that can't come soon enough.

The reason it can't come soon enough is that later tonight a nasty winter storm is headed my way. It's been a strange winter this year. It's been a lot of small winter storms and it's a bigger winter storm headed my way. So I am doing whatever cleaning up I can do before work and make an effort to finish up after I get home from work. But probably the most important thing is that I make sure everything is charged, especially my phone. I do need to get an extra gallon of milk and maybe a couple snacks. I have more than enough caffeinated drinks to get me through and food but I do have a hankering for some snacks.

What I worry about is the loss of electricity. Even though we have a generator, the generator is gas powered and I have to fill up a gas can or two to make sure that when we dig ourselves out, we will really be alright. I have my candles picked out, just in case. I don't have a lot of candles picked out but I want to have just enough but had a harder time picking out perfume for the next few days.

My choices are Narciso Rodriguez for her, Lyric and my stand by is no 5. I am still debating if I want the edt version or the edp version. Both smell like no 5but they are different. There are tons of others in my collection but this were the ones that won out. I very well could go with Eau Premiere as well. I don't exactly want to give myself too many options so I do not get overwhelmed with choices. I remember when there was another storm and loss electricity and I wore Mitsouko for the duration and I don't want a repeat performance of being that kind of irritated.

Snow Storms and Other Things

Ever since Thanksgiving in my neck of the woods, I have been living under the threat of a snowstorm.  For some reason, the first one had missed my area. Along the east coast of Lake Erie has been slammed with over 3 feet of snow with more on the way. But this time, it looks like I am going to get a little something more than an inch or two. At this point, I am seriously hoping that we do not lose our electricity due to the fact that the guy that we took our generator to for fixing can't figure out what is wrong with our generator. We got the generator to him in July and it's 5 months later.

So that means that I did spend some time cleaning up the house. I can't do tons of cleaning due to some of my restrictions but I made the effort to do some of them. Then it was the mini Costco run. There were things that we were completely out of and needed to get. So I think that I am going to be alright and I will just hope that I don't lose electricity. I don't want to be looking at a sink and dishwasher full of dirty dishes. All I really need to do is make sure I keep my cellphone, Kindle and iPod charged. I will have to take a look at my Kindle to see what books and movies that I have downloaded and see if there is anything that is under $2 that might be interesting.

The only thing that is in my favor is that I have more candles than I know what to do with in case we lose electricity. If we lose electricity, I am hoping that there will be 2 single wick candles that can be finished up on the first floor and I will finish one in my bedroom. So far, I have placed 12 candles in my room, in case I need them if and when we lose electricity. I am still waiting for my early access to the Bath and Body Works Candle Day sale that will be happening this weekend. I still am setting my limit of 3 candles and not one more. My record for Candle Day is an order of 9 candles in a single order. Since I have been on medical leave, I haven't been as stoked about Candle Day since I have started participating in Candle Day back in either 2018 or 2019. But I could never fathom or justify getting 20 plus candles in a single shopping run and then going back in the store or online and getting another 20 plus candles. Bath and Body Works always has candle sales through out the year and some of those sales are really good sales.

My medical leave is slowly coming to an end since I go back to work on Friday. In some ways, I want to go back to work and I know that I really need the cash but in other ways, I don't want to go back to work. I have gotten a little to used to doing what I want when I want and not have to keep an eye on the clock. I want to have a little more cash to get my 2 eldest nephews their Christmas gift and call it a day.

Waiting For That Storm

It's January and the holidays have passed. It's some serious bill paying time. You know, all the Christmas shopping that I did do, needs to be paid off. I am not really missing  getting packages in the mail anymore. I've had my fill of the Bath and Body Works semi annual sale. I wasn't too impressed with the semi annual sale though. It just seemed like the candles were picked over online and I am not a huge bath product type of person. I might have favorites when it comes to bath products, I am very picky when it comes to that stuff. I only bought 4 candles and don't have interest of adding more. What I am doing is if it's not bare bones necessity, I don't need it. Yes, I used most of my Ulta points for Chanel perfumes, I don't want to use the rest of those points quite yet. I am currently cutting down on any kind of extras. Subscriptions that I don't really need or use, I had to strip the Barkbox of all the extras and a few other things.

I think that my eldest Lab, Jake, is on a downward trend and naturally, when money is a little on the tight side, I have a vet appointment. So everything is going to be very tight for a few weeks. I'm not sure what is going to happen or what  exactly the cost is but I'm hoping that it's nothing too serious and it's not horribly expensive. Dogs can be expensive and I do worry as they get older. When they get older, they have the tendency to accumulate all kinds of medication. Let's just hope that this is a quick and cheap fix for me.

I'm still waiting on that huge winter storm to come sailing through my neck of the woods. Not seeing anything that would suggest a massive storm headed my way at this moment. But I am waiting for it but when that storm does hit, our water pump won't break this time. As soon as I hear about a winter storm, I will be a little better prepared this time around. I am going to make doubly sure that my phone stays charged, that need paying are paid but I know I at least have plenty of candles if the electricity goes out and stays out. I am not willing to go through a week without running water and days without electricity again like November 2020 when we did have that snowstorm. I am just hoping that if a snowstorm comes, I will be scheduled off that day. And hopefully, stocked up on groceries too.
