The 2nd Vacation

Yesterday was the beginning of my 2nd vacation of the year and began with a shaky start. My mother is in the hospital yet again. It seems like with every medication change something seems to go wrong and she ends up in the hospital. I am thinking of she might be more sensitive to medication changes and yesterday's visit wasn't great and it looks like today will not be a great day to visit. So I will stay away today and take care of things at home, like grocery shopping since I am just about out of quite a bit of things.

But being on vacation means that I can wear what perfumes that I want. I was starting to get a little aggravated at wearing Cheirosa 62 for the days that I work. So with yesterday being my first day, I wore Nasomatto Nuda. I was game for a massive jasmine bomb and I am thinking about wearing Lyric today and haven't worn that in a while or maybe Jubilation 25.

What I am hoping to do is to burn a couple candles this week, granted that the only things that I can't miss is my dog's surgery tomorrow and my dental appointment on Thursday. The dental stuff is just a cleaning and nothing major. If they want to do any kind of fillings, it is going to have to be a no. It's not so much about the money but it is supposed to be just a cleaning. The last time I was at the dentist, it was supposed to be checking how I was healing and they checked that but decided to take care of a small cavity. I just don't want to spend any more time in the dentist chair than I need to.

But back to the candles. Every time I make any kind d of promise, I back slide a little bit. I have used up 3 candles and then Bath and Body Works has some kind of promo. I took advantage of their BOGO candle sale and had to replenish my Honeycrisp Apple candles. I did want to get a couple more but it wasn't exactly a great idea. And yesterday, there was a promotion for the foaming hand soaps and I used my reward for a Sweet Whiskey single wick. The apple candle I got is only available in 3 wick form. So it is back on the bandwagon of no buy for candles right mow.

My big annoyance for the past few days was my Kindle. Everything except the Prime Video app worked and worked just fine. I did just about everything except the restore to factory settings. I was hoping that customer service would have a different solution nut as it turns out, it was the only solution. But when I did the factory reset and went through the whole rigamarol of putting in the WiFi password and entering my Amazon imfo, everything on my Kindle works just fine at the moment.

So now it is off to get a shopping list together and get the said shopping done.

Nasomatto Narcotic V Review

I've never been the hugest fan of any kind of tuberose dominant perfume. The lone exception to that has been Andy Tauer Tuberose Sotto La Luna. There has always been something about tuberose that has always been too much. I don't mind any kind of skank in perfume and quite enjoy skank in perfume but most of the time, tuberose rubs me the wrong way.

For the longest while, I have been wanting to try out Nasomatto's Narcotic V. For some strange reason, I keep thinking that the narcotic part of the name is necrotic. Maybe because those two words are close. I bought Nasomatto Nuda blind and when I found out that Nuda was going to be discontinued, I snapped up a back up bottle. I do adore jasmine dominant perfumes but not so much when it comes to tuberose.

I blind bought a bottle of Narcotic V and blind buys are not a good idea when the price point is a little on the high side. But I figured for $185 for 30ml of extrait de parfum, the price tag wasn't that bad. So price points can be relative when it comes to concentration. When you consider the Chanel priced for extrait, Narcotic V is a bargain.

When I first put on Narcotic V, it's a massive blast of tuberose with crushed greens. After a few minutes, I get some hints of jasmine but the most dominant part is the tuberose. The tuberose isn't the tuberose of Fracas and Fracas is the queen of all tuberose perfumes. I had no illusions that Narcotic V was going to be anything but quiet. It's a louder perfume and would be migraine inducing if sprayed lavishly and worn is close quarters as well. This is something that I wouldn't wear to work.

At the end of the day, I kind of like it and might be coming around to tuberose. Would I buy this again? Probably not, but I don't regret getting a bottle of it. You don't need to spay a lot on, just a teeny spray to get you through the day. Now if Nuda were brought back, I would be pretty happy.

Found the Bottle

Remember last week, I was shuffling around some perfume bottles and doing some dusting? Well, I shuffled around some more stuff and was actually able to find my bottle of Nasomatto Nuda and that was after I had to throw out a few dabber minis and a couple bottles that evaporated.

The couple bottles/minis that evaporated were no big loss to me, they were cheap as cheap could get. I didn't get them for free but insanely dirt cheap. Sometimes I do have to wonder about bottle designs. My bottle of the original Lolita Lempicka has evaporated to where only 1/4 of the perfume remains. The ones that were empty and thrown out due to evaporation were kind of strangely shaped as well. So I am thinking that the designers are not thinking things through with the bottles and spray mechanisms. For crying out loud, I don't want to pitch perfume bottles due to the perfume evaporating, I want the perfume to actually be used up and then throw the bottle away. This is probably the biggest issue when there is a large collection.

But while I was shuffling some stuff around, I had found my bottle of Jubilation 25 and naturally had to pull that one out and wear it. I think that I am head over heels in love with Jubilation 25. But with the current issues with Amouage, I hope that I am not so head over heels in love, I can let it go when I finish the bottle and that is if I actually finish the bottle first.

The First Foray into Decanting

Yesterday, while doing some housework, I came across some of the decanting supplies that I had gotten a while ago to decant a couple of my splash perfumes. Needless to say, I haven't gotten around to that until last night.

I spent a good 15 minutes trying to decide which splash bottle or mini to use as a first time experiment. Then I got the bright idea of using Cuir de Russie just because it was the first perfume that had me fall down the rabbit hole. I'm not talking the huge spray bottle of the EDT but the parfum version of it. Since I had the bulb syringes, I used one of those to transfer the parfum without incident. I was so excited to have made my first decant ever that I sprayed it on my wrists. One spray would have been more than sufficient but I did two. Let's just say that it didn't exactly end well. I was overwhelmed by this version of Cuir de Russie and by it being overpowering, it didn't smell good at all. About two or three hours, I lived with it. I have come to the conclusion that pure parfum many not be the best choice to decant into a spray even though I want to try Chanel no 19 in parfum form for some reason. I think that part of that thought stems from Nasomatto's Nuda that is pretty much the same concentration and is in spray form. So it's pretty much lesson learned.

Packaging and Bottle Design

Every so often, I get really get annoyed with a box that any new perfume and the bottle design. It's always a joy when I buy a full bottle of perfume, even if it is a backup bottle. But the packaging that holds the perfume itself is irritating. What has gotten me annoyed with this stuff is I got my back up bottle of Nasomatto Nuda.

I am not talking about when the package itself arrives at my doorstep. Getting my perfume, unbroken, is important. Everything (the USP box and peanuts) except my invoice and perfume gets thrown out. I've always liked how Chanel and Serge Lutens (export line) look and loved the packaging because it is minimal. The bottles are plain, the packaging is plain. All in the idea of that the perfume should not be judged by the packaging but in the perfume itself. Sometimes, less is more.

The whole Nasomatto line has gotten me a little riled. The glass that actually holds the perfume is just fine but the cap is just horrid. I mean, really? A round, wooden cap. The cap is huge and just doesn't fit. The skanky tuberose/jasmine perfume is great but the cap could have been thought out a little better. Too much bulk and it just looks bad because of the proportions.

Nasomatto Nuda Review

I do have a tendency to love jasmine dominant perfumes. The more indolic, the better. Patou's Joy is a rose/jasmine dominant mix and not a true jasmine dominant.  I really liked A La Nuit and Jasmine Full, I swooned over Sarrasins and now I am really swooning over Nasomatto Nuda.

I've always debated on getting a full bottle of A La Nuit but always either decided against it or it got pushed to the side because something else captured my attention. But after the Perfume Posse's Guide of Jasmine perfumes, I was looking at a couple jasmine scents on Luckyscent. That is when I discovered that Nuda was being discontinued. Even though I never smelled Nuda before, I had gotten a bottle. Nothing like the finding out something is being discontinued to make me either buy or contemplate a stocking up. Even if it wasn't love right away, there would be a chance it could grow on me.

Nuda is very creamy and is a little strange for me. At first, Nuda is a loud jasmine that races off towards being with just plain indolic or very indolic but never crosses the line. I can't help but say, well aren't you going to be indolic or not? Nuda does mellow to where it isn't very loud but still loves to border on that edge of either sensual or just plain slut. I don't know if I like that or not. Either way, I am happy that I did manage to snag a bottle of Nuda before it was discontinued.
